Washington 50 States Quarters

The Washington 50 States Quarters Program was a series of commemorative quarters released by the United States Mint from 1999 to 2008. The program aimed to honor each of the 50 states by featuring unique designs on the reverse side of the quarters. While the obverse side maintained the traditional image of George Washington, the reverse side showcased various symbols and themes associated with each state.

The release of the first five quarters in 1999 marked the beginning of the series. Each year, five new quarters were released in the order in which the states ratified the Constitution or were admitted to the Union.

The remaining 45 states, along with the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories, were honored with their own quarters over the subsequent years. Each state's design was chosen through a selection process that involved public input, including suggestions from residents and state officials.

The Washington 50 States Quarters Program concluded in 2008 with the release of the final coin featuring Hawaii. Overall, the program gained widespread popularity, with millions of people collecting the quarters and many states organizing events and celebrations around their respective designs. It stands as a significant numismatic achievement and a unique way of showcasing the diversity and history of the United States.
